The fox hound belonging to Walter Dingley of Auburn, is the hero of rather a thrilling episode, for a day or two ago the dog in some way got stranded in the river and came floating down on a cake of ice. After leaving the logan and when about opposite the wood yard of Luce, Smith & Co., the dog and the cake of ice parted company and the animal was seen struggling in the water, making ineffectual attempts to get upon the firm ice on the edge of the river. A man went to poor doggie’s assistance, took him into the office, dried and warmed him before the fire, and then telephoned to the dog’s master who went up immediately and was as grateful as was doggie himself for the rescue.
