PADUCAH, Ky. – Theresa Shostak of Greene has been selected as a semifinalist for the 2004 American Quilter’s Society Quilt Show and Contest April 21 to 24 in Paducah, Ky.
Shostak has been chosen to join 425 others in the annual competition. In its 20th year, the competition will offer $100,000 in prize money. Shostak’s work was chosen from an initial field of more than 767 quilts.
From this point on, the work will compete against others in its category. Three quilting authorities will judge the group in the weeks prior to the opening of the show.
The individual quilt named best of show will garner the Hancock’s of Paducah Best of Show award and a $20,000 cash prize. In addition, the quilt will earn a permanent space in the Museum of the American Quilter’s Society, where it will be viewed by more than 40,000 visitors annually.
Regardless of how the quilt places in the final judging, all 425 quilts will be displayed at the annual quilt exhibition. The exhibition brings more than 35,000 quilters, collectors, enthusiasts and vendors to Paducah each spring.
