LIVERMORE FALLS – Fire officials are investigating a fire that burned more than wood in violation of a burn permit.
Livermore Falls firefighters responded to a brush fire that had flames rising higher than usual early Saturday night, Assistant Chief Jim Chretien said. Firefighters were called back later in the evening as well.
A burn permit had been issued, Chretien said, but it looked as if an old building and more stuff was being burned than should have been.
Chretien has called in the Maine Forest Service to investigate the incident.
In another grass fire incident, a juvenile allegedly set off a grass fire with a lighter behind the skate park Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and police handled the juvenile, Chretien said.
