NEWRY – For the second consecutive year, Sunday River Ski Resort has donated $10,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine, an organization that grants wishes to children living with life-threatening or terminal illness.
The funds were raised in a collaborative effort with the Parrothead Club of Maine through the resort’s third annual Parrothead Festival, an event that features weekend-long music and events.
Parrotheads are Jimmy Buffett enthusiasts who are members of a network of clubs that exist across the world. For the past two years, Sunday River’s donation has been used to benefit children in the Bethel community.
Besides live entertainment and a margarita contest, the weekend festivities also included the 16th annual Bust n’ Burn mogul competition that attracts competitors from New England and beyond, and the annual pond skimming contest.
The Sunday River Brew Pub won the Margarita Mix-off and the top local finisher for Bust n’ Burn was Justin Hall of Newry, who finished third overall. For complete results, visit www.sundayriver.com/compresults.html.
