FARMINGTON – Micah Voter and the Livingstons will offer Voter’s songs at the G.I. Coffee House at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, in Old South Congregational Church on Main Street.
An educational technician at Strong School, Voter has many kinds of music. His songwriting reflects his appreciation of “folksie, bluesie, jazz, rock,” he said, with special admiration for musicians such as Gavin Degraw, Marc Cohn, Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen.
Voter began writing songs while studying vocal performance and music technology at Bellmont University in Nashville.
Later he returned to Strong with his wife, Joy, their son, Isaiah, and daughter, Malina Joy. A third child is expected in June.
Andrew Bracey of Strong plays guitar with the Livingstons; his brother, Chris, is the drummer. Ivan Moore plays bass, while Voter sings over his keyboard.
The band’s name comes from one of Voter’s songs in which he invented the little town of Livingston, symbolizing living with a full heart. The message of hope for small town people in transition permeates his music.
The G.I. Coffee House is presenting the Livingstons for soldiers and their families and friends.
Respect and gratitude for the U.S. troops, moral support for them and their families is the central theme on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Everyone is welcome to express community caring for these people.
