WORCESTER, Mass. – Robert L. “Bob” Eichel died peacefully at home on April 17.

The son of William and Olive Eichel, he was born June 11, 1927, in Gorham, N.H. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy, prior to his graduation from the University of New Hampshire in 1950.

“Bob” made a successful career of over 40 years in the retail industry, 26 of those with the W.T. Grant Co. He retired in 1992 to enjoy his love of golf, his summer home in Songo Pond and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary (Wentzell) Eichel; his sons, Wayne and wife, Diane of Grapevine, Texas, and Raymond and wife, Debra of Worcester, Mass.; his daughter, Deborah and husband, Jonathan Knight, also of Worcester, Mass.; three grandchildren, Matthew, Brittany and Daniel Eichel of Grapevine, Texas; a brother, Harold and wife, Elaine of Randolph, N.H.; his sisters, Dorothy Eichel of Shelburne, N.H., and Barbara and husband, Carl Johnson of Ocean Pines, Md.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
