LEWISTON – A discussion of Pope John Paul II’s encyclical, “Ecclesia de Eucharistia” (Church of the Eucharist), will be presented by Sister Elizabeth Madden from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 24, at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, 253 Main St.
Madden is a member of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament, which is a contemplative, non-cloistered Eucharistic community with spiritual ministries in the Catholic Church.
She has completed studies in theology, scripture and spirituality and is certified in Ignatian spirituality and direction. In addition, she is serving as vocation director for the U.S. Province of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament and was appointed spiritual director of the recently initiated Perpetual Adoration Program for the Catholic Parishes of Southern Maine.
Madden’s talk will discuss how the pope’s encyclical witnesses his profound faith in the presence of the Risen Lord in the church through the sacrament of the Eucharist and how it reflects his deep concern for the understanding of Catholics regarding the central mystery of their faith.
Light refreshments will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. and all are welcome.
