FARMINGTON – The Farmington Rotary Club is seeking nominations for its sixth annual Rotary Community Service Awards.

Special nominations forms are available now. However, nominations also will be accepted without the form by providing the nominator’s name and phone number along with the nominee’s contact information and the reason for nominating them.

Forms may be picked up at area town offices, from local Rotarians and businesses. Individuals, groups, and businesses are all welcome to nominate a candidate.

“The Entrepreneur and Senior Vocation Awards are given annually to recognize hometown people for making their communities successful,” stated Carol Timberlake of the Farmington Rotary Club.

Criteria for the Entrepreneur Award includes a person who has grown a business over the last two years, has contributed to the local economy and redefined the work pride in local business.

The individual receiving this award has demonstrated creativity, initiative and determination while developing a new product or service and has created new jobs and positive growth in overall business in western Maine communities.

Past award recipients include John Moore, Craig Jordan, Randy Cousineau, Kevin Vining, and Steve and Rhonda Jones.

The Senior Vocation Award will be given to the person who has shared wisdom and leadership with a long-term commitment to the communities through dedication to business, community volunteerism, work ethic and honest character.

These nominees’ characteristics include professional achievement, a breakthrough project or initiative. and a contribution to the educational foundation of children.

Emily Floyd, Roger Perry, Elizabeth Marks, Allen Smith and Clyde Ross have been recipients of this award.

The Rotary also recognizes a young person or group of youths who are talented in the area of instrumental music or vocal music and who can perform for the awards banquet. The Rising Star Award is an opportunity to encourage youths to excel in the arts.

Nominees must have a home or business in one of the following locations: Avon, Carrabassett Valley, Chesterville, Eustis, Farmington, Farmington Falls, Kingfield, Industry, New Sharon, New Vineyard, Phillips, Stratton, Strong, Temple, Vienna, Weld, West Farmington or Wilton.

The Farmington Rotary Club will honor the winners at a public banquet in early June.
