FARMINGTON – Sandy River Players will present their next production, “Proof,” at 7:30 p.m. on April 29, 30 and May 1, and at 2 p.m. on May 1 and 2 in Alumni Theatre at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The play written by David Auburn won a Tony Award for best play and the 2001 Pulitzer Prize. Against a backdrop of mathematical genius and mental illness, Catherine, played by Amalia Marenberg, has been the full-time caregiver to her gifted yet troubled father, Robert, (Dan Robbins) until his recent death. She must now deal with her well-meaning, but controlling sister Clair, played by Mandi Favreau, and the attentions of her father’s young protg, Hal, played by Zak Cates, while she ponders how much of her father’s genius and illness she may have inherited. The discovery of a new mathematical proof among her father’s papers creates a mystery of authorship in this emotionally charged presentation.

Directed by Dan Robbins, this is a well-seasoned cast, all of whom have performed before, most notably in “The Crucible” last year.

Tickets are available at Howard’s Rexall on Main Street or at the door. Prices are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors/children and $5 for UMF students. On April 29 only, prices will be $8, $6.50 and $4.
