FARMINGTON – Lucien Joseph Tardif, 85, of Jewell St. in Jay, died Saturday afternoon, April 24, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

He was born May 19, 1918, in Chisholm, a son of Joseph and Delina (Lambert) Tardif. He attended and graduated from Jay schools.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army’s 643rd Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was decorated for his service earning Silver and Bronze Stars and Purple Heart.

On Dec. 15, 1946, he married Lillian Vaillancourt, at St. Rose of Lima in Jay. He was employed as a Turbine Operator at International Paper and the Otis Mill in Jay for over 42 years.

He was a life member of the Frank L. Mitchell V.F.W. Post #3335, D.A.V., and the Quarter Century Club in Jay.

He is survived by daughter, Brenda Tardif of Jay; son, Thomas H. Tardif and wife, Jean of Livermore; four grandchildren, Karen Cutchin of Portland, Kelly Cutchin of Ky., Travis and Shannon Tardif of Livermore and great-grandson Benjamin Cutchin of Portland.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian on July 1, 2001 and son, John J. Tardif on March 26, 2004.
