WILTON – Two people were injured Monday on routes 2 and 4 when a car struck a stopped truck from behind. The car continued on and crashed into Eagle Sport Shop’s metal storage building then stopped after striking four all-terrain vehicles and a bush hog, police said.

Wilton police officer Bob Cole said Alan Magrath, 44, of Wilton was stopped in his truck on the highway and had his signal on to take a left into Cousineau’s.

Cynthia Gallant, 51, of Chesterville ran into the back of Magrath’s pickup, Cole said.

Her car bounced off the truck, Cole said, then turned hard right up over the sidewalk curb and straight between Horace Mann Insurance and Sizzle Tanning Salon for about 150 to 200 feet to Eagle Sport Shop’s storage facility, then went through a wall into four, four-wheel all-terrain vehicles and a bush hog.

Magrath and Gallant were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

Magrath was treated and released. Gallant was transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, hospital spokeswoman Jill Gray said.

Cole said Magrath’s truck had the rear window smashed out and the rear-end smashed in.

Gallant’s Hyundai was totaled, he said.

Cole was still investigating the accident and didn’t have an estimate of damage for the all-terrain vehicles and bush hog.
