LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center will host a free diabetes fair from 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday, April 30, in the Conference Center on the ground floor of the 12 High Street Medical Office Complex.

At 9 a.m. registered dietitian Ellen Dionne will discuss “Wiser Eating Choices,” focusing on portion control and healthy eating. Her presentation will include visual displays.

At 10:30 a.m., food production supervisor Lee J. Walker will present a cooking demonstration, making grilled salmon and desserts made with Splenda, a new sweetening product. He will offer baking tips for using artificial sweeteners. Samples will be available.

The event will also feature a free foot examination by podiatrist Christopher Sacco for those who are not seeing a podiatrist. To schedule time for a foot exam, call 795-2735.

Massage therapist Donna Labrie will offer free 10-minute chair massages. Free information will be provided and state-of-the-art diabetes care equipment will be on display. Door prizes will the awarded.
