LISBON – The Coombs Mountfort Post, American Legion, and Unit will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, the post home on Webster Street. Nomination of officers for the coming year will be held.

Parenting class

BRUNSWICK – A parenting education program, Caught in the Middle, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Brunswick High School library. The program is for separating or divorcing parents. Presented by an experienced educator and counselor, the four-hour workshop will address a variety of issues. Participants will receive a manual, which covers topics and includes a resource guide. The fee is $25 in advance, $40 day of the workshop. For more information or to register, call 837-4893.

Pond work day

GREENE – The Androscoggin Land Trust will hold a stewardship work day from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Hooper Pond Preserve. Members will mark the boundaries and post signage on the preserve. The preserve encompasses most of the pond and includes significant wetland habitat and upland forests. Water. Snacks will be provided. Contact Mike Auger at 225-5705 to sign up and for directions.

Stanton speaker

AUBURN – Judy Walker, Maine Audubon Society staff naturalist, will be the featured speaker at the meeting of the Stanton Bird Club at 7 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the High Street Congregational Church. Her topic will be “Important Bird Areas from Ecuador to Maine.” Maine Audubon and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife have initiated a statewide Important Bird Areas Program. Walker will show slides from a recent trip to the Galapagos and the Tandayapa region of Ecuador, which was the first designated bird area in the world. Walker will share stories from her trip and outline the goals and criteria for the Maine program. The meeting, the last of the season, will be followed by light refreshments. Bridge winners

AUBURN – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on April 23 at Schooner Estates. First in Flight A were Martine Begert and Patricia Garcia; second, Sherry Hinckley and Dot Kelleher; third, Paul Barber and Luke Merry; tied at fourth, Bruce Murray and Lucille Theriault with Roger Briggs and Claire Lyons.
