LISBON – Lisbon pitcher John Tefft went the distance to earn his second win of the season as the Greyhounds pounded Winthrop 11-2 in baseball action Tuesday.

Derek Giusto hit a three-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning and Jason Hayes had three hits for Lisbon (3-0). Starting Winthrop pitcher Chip Burnham recorded the loss.

Mtn. Valley 8, Wiscasset 1

RUMFORD – Shawn Marr broke the game open with a three-run homer in the fifth inning as Mountain Valley crushed Wiscasset 8-1 in MVC baseball action Tuesday.

The Redskins (0-1) matched the Falcons (2-0) in the hits department with four, but came up short in fielding, committing eight errors along the way.

Marr recorded five RBI with a pair of hits, while Korey Staires pitched in with a triple and single for the Falcons.

Dirigo 7, Georges Valley 2

DIXFIELD – Brandon Berry went 2-for-4 to lead Dirigo as the Cougars sailed to a 7-2 win over Georges Valley in baseball action Tuesday.

The Cougars (2-2) jumped out early with three runs in the first inning and took a 7-0 lead before the Buccaneers (0-2) responded with a pair in the fifth.

Bryan Knowles picked up the pitching victory with five strikeouts and allowing just two hits and two walks for Dirigo. Both runs were unearned.

Gorham 10, Poland 1

POLAND – Brian Schools went 3-for-4 with three RBI to pace Gorham to a 10-1 victory over Poland in WMC baseball action Tuesday. Ben Thayer scattered five hits and walked two for the Rams (3-0) to notch the win.

Brent Haislip led the Knights (2-3) with a double, while pitcher Alex Smith had the team’s only RBI. The Rams exploded for nine runs in the first inning, and Poland was unable to recover.

Leavitt 10, Brunswick 9

TURNER – Tony Pirruccello had two hits and hit a three-run double in the bottom of the third to boost Leavitt to a 10-9 victory over Brunswick in a baseball matchup Tuesday.

Brunswick’s Brian Smith and Tom Prunick each had two hits and an extra base hit.

Lacrosse

St. Dom’s 10, Westbrook 0

AUBURN – Mike Doucette netted three goals Tuesday to lead St. Dom’s to a 10-0 victory over Westbrook in a lacrosse game Tuesday.

Andrew Nadeau, Kevin Laplante and Matt Manson added two goals each for the Saints (1-2), while a single goal by Tyler Martin completed the scoring. Brendon Dyer needed only three saves in net to notch the win.

Andrew Benson and Tim Kelly combined for 16 saves in net for the Blue Blazes (0-3).
