GORHAM – Senior outfielder Adam Lemieux of the University of Southern Maine Huskies baseball team has been named Player of the Week by the Little East Conference for his outstanding play the week of April 19-25.
In five games last week, Lemieux batted .632 (12 of 19) with seven runs scored, five doubles, 10 RBI and an .895 slugging percentage. He also was flawless in the field handling 11 chances. He hit safely in all five games to extend his hitting streak to 15 games.
Sea Dogs to welcome 4-millionth fan
PORTLAND – The countdown is on as the Sea Dogs are nearing the four-million mark in attendance. The Sea Dogs are 9,506 fans away from the milestone. Team officials estimate the four millionth fan will walk through the turnstile sometime on Friday, April 30, when the Sea Dogs take on the Norwich Navigators at 6 p.m.
The 2004 season is the Sea Dogs 11th season of play in Portland. In the team’s first season in 1994, a new record in attendance was established as 375,197 fans made their way into Hadlock Field. Since then the Dogs have consistently drawn around 400,000 fans annually and rank among the top five Double-A franchises in attendance.
