BUCKFIELD – Amanda Collette struck out 10 batters and joined six teammates with a pair of hits to power St. Dom’s to a 13-0 blanking of Buckfield in softball action Tuesday.

The Saints (1-1) put a pair of runs on the board in the second and scored in every subsequent inning. Erica Dorso contributed a home run during the slugfest.

The catcher, Tiffany Dunn, had the first of only two hits for Buckfield (0-1).

Lisbon 13, Winthrop 8

LISBON – Nikki Strople and Andrea Piela pounded out three hits and tallied three RBI each to lead Lisbon to a 13-8 victory over Winthrop in MVC softball action Tuesday.

Piela ripped an RBI-double in the sixth that sparked a six-run rally. Jen Hogan went the distance on the hill for the Greyhounds (2-0) to earn her second win of the season.

Katie Pushard led the Ramblers (0-1) with a double and two RBI, while Meg Mullen and Renee St. Hilaire added two hits apiece. Pushard also handled pitching duties, allowing 15 hits on the day.

Wiscasset 16, Mtn. Valley 10

RUMFORD – Sara Whitefield went 3-for-5 and walked once, while plating six runs and scoring three times to power Wiscasset to a 16-10 win over Mountain Valley in MVC softball action Tuesday.

The Redskins (1-0) went on a tear, outscoring the Falcons (1-1) by a score of 15-2 before relaxing a bit in the later innings.

Jen Kellogg had three hits, including a double, while Tany Nicols contributed a pair of singles for the Falcons in the loss.

Georges Valley 24, Dirigo 2

DIXFIELD – Danielle Delano went 3-for-3 with four RBI to propel Georges Valley to a convincing 24-2 victory over Dirigo in a MVC softball matchup Tuesday.

Lacey Stone ripped an RBI home run in the fourth inning as the Buccaneers (2-0) sent 10 runs across the plate. Lindsey Barlow struck out eight and allowed six hits while earning the win.

Abby Fenstermacher and Jess Blaisdell led the Cougars’ (0-4) offensive effort, with five singles between them. Fenstermacher also threw four innings and was saddled with the loss.

Brunswick 4, Leavitt 0

TURNER – McKell Barnes smashed a bases-loaded triple in the top of the seventh inning, giving the Brunswick Dragons a 4-0 victory over the Leavitt Hornets in a Class A softball game Tuesday.

For the Hornets (5-2), Sam St. Hilaire went the distance, striking out six batters. Brunswick pitcher Chelsea Blais got the win.

Lacrosse

Mt. Ararat 14, Lewiston 7

LEWISTON – Mt. Ararat’s Michelle Sirois netted three goals to propel the Eagles to a 14-7 victory over Lewiston in girls’ lacrosse action Tuesday.

Emmie Theberge and Maggie Murphy each scored a pair of goals for Mt. Ararat (2-0). The Blue Devils (0-1) received three goals from Kelsey Barney and two from Kaitlin Anthoine.

Hebron 10, Hyde 7

HEBRON – Maddy Campbell and Cindy Lebel each scored four goals to lead Hebron to a 10-7 triumph over Hyde. Kylene Jennings netted three goals for Hyde while Meddie Hurd added two. Hebron also received goals from Steph Roy and Nina Planson.
