NORWAY – Bob Timberlake, who raised millions over a lifetime of ministry to the homeless, won’t be able to visit his hometown of Norway one last time as he had hoped.

He is bedridden at a hospice near his Pawnee City, Neb., home, and will not be giving the Wednesday sermon at the Norway Baptist Church on Cottage Street.

Doctors gave Timberlake six months to live in February, after finding an inoperable tumor in his brain.

He thought his speech would go first, since the tumor was located so close to his speech center. He decided against surgery, so he could still speak as long as possible.

But chemotherapy treatments have taken their toll. He had wanted to spend his last months traveling to various cities and old haunts to raise money for shelters he established in Buffalo, N.Y., and Omaha, Neb.

“I’m completely bedridden,” Timberlake said Monday. “But I have my faith in Jesus and I have no fear.”
