LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center’s Senior Health and Wellness Services will offer the following programs to the region’s older residents during May:
People with Arthritis Can Exercise or Personal Fitness. The program includes a one-on-one evaluation and exercises designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion. The class will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A fee will be charged. Call for class times.
Bladder Health Consults with Angela Dubuc, RN, manager of the CMMC Bladder Control Center, will be offered Monday, May 10, by appointment. Participants can meet one-on-one to discuss concerns and learn about possible solutions to bladder-related problems. The consults are free.
“Medicare: What You Need to Know About the New Charges” will be the topic of discussion at a program at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 18. Anita Wiles from SeniorsPlus will explain the Medicare changes that will take effect in July. Her presentation will focus on medication coverage. There will be a question-and-answer session.
The Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute will sponsor a free ScoreKeeper cardiac risk assessment screening by appointment on Wednesday, May 12.
Integral to the ScoreKeeper screening process is a software program that creates a personalized report about an individual’s health status.Information provided by ScoreKeeper, if used effectively, can help an individual improve their cardiovascular health.
Free blood pressure screenings will be offered on a walk-in basis on Mondays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
