LEWISTON – Doris I. Berube, 73, of 20 Simard Ave. made peace with her life and went with the Lord on Tuesday, April 27, at 10:53 p.m. after staying at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

Born in Lewiston, May 28, 1930, a daughter of Hervey O. and Alvina Picard McGraw she attended Lewiston schools graduating from Lewiston High School in the Class of 1948. She studied to be a nurse at St. Mary’s School of Nursing, while working in the records department.

She worked as a nurse for Dr. Alexander DeLagaza for three years, for Dr. Norman Gauvreau 26 years, and Dr. Susan Gaylord for eight years retiring at the age of 65.

Mrs. Berube was a long time member of Holy Cross Parish, former Knights of Columbus Council 106 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Fourth Degree Wives.

She was a delightful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all, she enlightened with her presence. Her hobbies were her family, camping at Keoka Beach Campground, bingo, and many crafts.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gerard M. Berube of Lewiston whom she married Nov. 11, 1950; her daughters, Claire Gendron and fiance, Raymond White of Oxford, Diane Harnden and her husband, Bill Harnden of Auburn; her grandchildren, Erin Gendron and Matthew Harnden; her sisters, Jeannette Dorey of Burlington, Vt., Florence Kelleher of Brockton, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sara in 1986; and a sister, Simone Bauby.
