PARIS – Scholarships for training on nonprofit collaboration and a nonprofit resource library will be provided through $2,000 given recently to the Oxford Hills Grant Network.

Members of the network, which has been meeting for a year, will be given first preference for the 15 scholarships to the June 29 training on building effective partnerships. It will be conducted by the Maine Association of Nonprofits.

Others in Oxford County involved in grant research may also get scholarships to attend, said network coordinator Lori Allen of Western Maine Development.

The training will be held at the Western Maine University and Community College Center at 232 Main St.

The center, next to Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, is holding an open house at 1 p.m. May 5.

Allen said this will be the first time the training has been offered in Oxford County.

“The whole point of the grant network is to get these nonprofits to work together,” Allen said. Because the grant funds come from the Oxford County Fund of the Maine Community Foundation, which required the local network to guarantee 15 slots, she said, “The training itself is a partnership.”

The nonprofit resource library will likely be headquartered at a library in the Oxford Hills, she said.

Allen said about a dozen people have attended the monthly network meetings since they were established in April 2003; another 30 people have been involved over time.

For more information, phone Allen at 743-8830.

The grant network meets the second Friday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Growth Council of Oxford Hills, 150 Main St.
