LEWISTON – Juliette Ida Guay, 76, of Old Farm Road (formerly Hamel Road), died on April 27, at 6:05 p.m. After a week in the hospital, she returned home for hospice care. She had only been home for 35 minutes. While her children prayed the Holy Rosary, her husband placed her scapular on her lips for her to kiss then signed the cross on her forehead. It was at that point that she took her final breath.

She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 7, 1928, the daughter of Albert and Amanda (Beauchesne) Levasseur. She was a faithful and devoted wife to her husband, Lucien for 55 years. Next to God, she loved her husband and held a great esteem for him above all others. She honored her duty as a mother to her 10 children and brought them up in the knowledge and practice of the Catholic Faith and gave them the best rules and examples for the regulation of their lives that they may serve God wholly and constantly.

She loved sewing and mending and made clothes for many years. She was also a quilter and donated many quilts to the needy. She loved to cook and made many goodies to share with the needy and her friends during the holidays. She will be remembered and loved by many people as a woman who gave unselfishly to all.

She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church and blessed with the friendship of many priests, especially Father Donovan and her pastor, Father Lariviere, who visited her and administered the sacraments to her many times during her illness. Father Mulkern, a retired priest, was present at her home to pray for her soul after she died.

She is survived by her husband, Lucien J. of Lewiston; six daughters, Joanne Poulin, Jacqueline Guay, Therese Guay and Katherine Hooks, all of Lewiston, Pauline Cavalari of Connecticut, and Madeleine Casey of Clinton; four sons, Robert, Donald and Gerard, all of Connecticut, and Henry of Thomaston; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Doris Rodrigue of Lewiston; and her brother, Robert Levasseur of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by a sister, Rita Levasseur; two brothers, Thomas and Romeo Levasseur; and her great-granddaughter, Shadae Foster.
