FARMINGTON – One day after knocking off nationally ranked Mt. Ararat, Oxford Hills dropped an 11-inning 3-2 decision to Mt. Blue.

Brian Wells ripped an RBI single in the 11th inning to lead the Cougars to the upset victory. Ben Saviello handled pitching duties for the Cougars (6-1), allowing eight hits in eight innings.

Joe Baker led the Vikings’ (7-1) offensive effort with a pair of hits. Baker also handled pitching duties, allowing eight hits in 10 innings of service.

Livermore Falls 8, Mt. Abram 7

LIVERMORE FALLS – Garrett Young smashed a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Livermore Falls to a 8-7 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC baseball action Thursday.

Tyler Cote also belted out a home run for the Andies (2-3), while Matt Belmonte added a pair of hits. Dane Hanson scattered five hits from the mound while earning his first win of the season.

Frank Hayes ripped a three-run home run for the Roadrunners (2-3) in the fifth inning which tied the game. Livermore Falls rallied and Young’s homer saved the day. Sewall Pingree chipped in with two hits and two RBIs.

Jay 5, Winthrop 3

WINTHROP – A.J. Nelson went 2-for-4 with one RBI to pace Jay to a 5-3 victory over Winthrop.

Jake Turner scattered five hits for the Tigers (4-0) for the win.

Jon Mortimer led the Ramblers (1-2) with a pair of hits and one RBI. Matt McCarthy went the distance on the hill, allowing nine hits.

Messalonskee 4, Lewiston 3

OAKLAND – Dan Coulombe stroked an RBI single in the eighth inning to lift Messalonskee to a 4-3 victory over Lewiston.

Josh Brook stepped in to relieve Justin Willey in the eighth and earned the win. Coulombe also tallied four stolen bases in a strong overall performance for the Eagles (2-6).

Brian Blais, who relieved the Blue Devils’ (3-5) starting pitcher Zack Timmermeyer in the seventh inning, took the loss. Lewiston was limited to four hits.

Gould sweeps Pine Tree

BETHEL – Quinn McAllister struck out seven and received strong support at the plate as Gould rolled to a 11-0 win over Pine Tree Academy in the first game of a doubleheader.

McAllister scattered three hits while notching the win. Will Carver and Tim Whiton led the offensive effort with two hits apiece. Chris Gepford and Chris Gagnon led Pine Tree with doubles.

In the nightcap, Gould went a little easier on Pine Tree with a 10-7 win. Will Carver stepped up to the plate once again with an RBI double, while T.J. Savage also pounded out a double.
