WILTON – Tom Saviello has announced that he will seek re-election to the Maine House of Representatives. The Wilton Democrat, serving his first term in the Maine Legislature, is the environmental manager at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay. He has a doctorate in forest resources from the University of Maine.

He is a member of the Wilton Lions and helps coach high school baseball. He is a member of the Wilton Congregational Church, and has served as a director for SAD 9 and as a Wilton selectman before his election to the Legislature.

Saviello will be seeking to represent newly created District 90, which includes Wilton, New Vineyard, Avon, Strong, Phillips, Temple, Perkins, Washington, Salem and Freeman. The new district was created as a result of the state’s mandatory 10-year redistricting requirement.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue serving the people of the district,” said Saviello.

Saviello said he has worked for the last year on a “tri-partisan plan” for property tax relief, developed in cooperation with fellow Democratic, Republican and independent legislators. He’s also worked to establish environmental regulations, which protect the environment while preserving jobs, he said.

Saviello ran his first campaign as a “Clean Elections” candidate, opting to forgo private campaign donations. He said he will follow the Clean Elections law again.

He is a widower with two children: Allison, 20 and Ben, 18.
