FARMINGTON – Viola Effie Thurlow, 91, a resident of Edgewood Living and Rehabilitation Center, Farmington, died just before midnight, Wednesday evening, April 28, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 29, 1912, in Pleasant Ridge Plantation, the daughter of Mark and Elizabeth (Martin) Beane. She received her education in local schools and on July 18, 1940, married Ralph Thurlow. He died Sept. 6, 1982.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed at G.H. Bass in the office, retiring in the early 1970’s. She attended the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church and was a member of the Phippstown Club. She loved camping, hunting, fishing, knitting and crocheting. Always, her happiest times were spent in the company of her loving family.

She is survived by a daughter, Roxie Moody Black of Farmington; two brothers, Richard Beane of Anson and Daniel Beane and his wife, Claire of Caratunk; seven grandchildren, Kevin Black, Pamela Rackliffe, Vicki Haggan, Gary Black, Kyle Black, Roy Smith and Teena Smith; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight

great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Feralyn Moody Smith July 12, 1976; and two sisters, Esther Clark and Bernice Dougherty.
