MONMOUTH – Junior Josh Parsons earned his first career pitching victory as Monmouth corraled Lisbon 17-5 in MVC baseball action Saturday.
The Mustangs (3-3) jumped out to a five-run first inning, before scoring three in each of the next two frames and six in the fourth. Sean Holbrook had a pair of hits, including a home run to pace Monmouth.
The Greyhounds (3-2) scored a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Tim Sautter and Chris Kates tallied a pair of hits each, including a four-bagger from Kates.
Gould 13, Kents Hill 3
BETHEL – Bump Heldman had three hits to lead Gould to a 13-3 win over Kents Hill in baseball action Saturday.
The Gould Huskies (3-8) got off to a good start with a four-run first inning, before adding another six in the third inning behind a two-run double by Heldman and a three-run blast from T.J. Savage.
The Kents Hill Huskies (6-4) rallied for three runs in the fourth inning, but Gould came back with a game-ending two runs in the home half of the fifth to give Craig Houle his first loss of the season.
Buckfield takes pair
BUCKFIELD – Buckfield bounced back from an 0-2 start on the season with two commanding victories, 19-0 and 13-3, over Greenville in EWC baseball action Saturday.
The Bucks (2-2) tallied 11 runs in the first inning of the opener, highlighted by a three-run blast from Scott Wetherell. Matt Lowell and Harry Hayes each had a triple in the winning effort.
Jacob McAllister had a key double in the third inning for the Bucks to plate a pair of runs and push Buckfield toward their second win of the afternoon.
The Lakers (0-3) kept from being blanked twice when they scored their only runs of the day in the fifth inning of the nightcap.
