Both the driver and the passenger were listed in fair condition.

LIVERMORE FALLS – Two people remained hospitalized Monday after they were injured Sunday night in a one-car accident. Both the driver and the passenger were ejected from the Chevrolet convertible.

Bryan Fylstra of Wayne, who was 20 at the time of the accident but turned 21 Monday, was driving south on Route 106 toward Leeds when he lost control of the vehicle on a corner, Livermore Falls police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.

The vehicle veered into the oncoming lane and went sideways through both lanes, struck a culvert on the south side of the road, launched into the air, traveled over a driveway and landed on the north side of the road, Steward said.

Fylstra and his passenger, Penelope Hoad, 19, address unknown, were ejected from the vehicle and thrown into a body of water, he said.

Both Fylstra and Hoad were taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Hoad suffered a broken right leg and Fylstra had head and back injuries and several broken ribs, Steward said.

A hospital spokeswoman said both were listed in fair condition Monday afternoon.

Fylstra’s father, Thomas Fylstra, 49, of Wayne, who owned the 1996 car, was arrested after police asked him several times to leave the scene of the personal injury accident.

Fylstra was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Police had to battle him to the ground, Steward said.

The vehicle was impounded at Allie Bond’s garage.

Assisting officers at the scene were Leeds and Livermore Falls firefighters, Jay and state police.
