LEWISTON – Gerard R. “Tit Pere” Morin, 77, of Lessard St. in Lewiston, died early Tuesday morning, May 4, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston Sept. 18, 1926, a son of Pierre and Irma (Thibault) Morin. He was educated in Lewiston schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II, and was married to Pauline J. Charpentier Nov. 26, 1966. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 31 years for the Lewiston Public Works Department and was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Parish.

“Gerry” was a prankster-joker who loved to entertain and make people laugh. He was an avid card player who cheated a lot and was very good at it. His favorite saying was “There’s no friends in cards.” He loved to work outside with his hands – whether it was tending to the bird feeders, taking care of his flowers or making animal lawn ornaments.

He was always willing to lend a hand because he always had his own way of doing things and it was the right way. He liked to argue a lot. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing for the big one which he never caught. He was a very patient man. He liked watching TV and some of his favorite shows were westerns, game shows, sports and “Seraphin”, a French show. But most of all he liked to watch the 6 o”clock news every night with his eyes shut closed and mouth wide open.

He loved spoiling his grandchildren just as much as he loved seeing them. He was a great father, wonderful husband, good provider and caretaker, but most of all, a very dedicated family man. In our hearts, he is a shining example of all the things a father and husband should be. He will be sadly missed by all of us who’s hearts he really touched!

He is survived by his wife of Lewiston; three daughters, Helene Curran and husband Theodore of Sabattus, Louise Whalen and husband Scott of Auburn and Noella Potvin of Lewiston; three sons, Paul Potvin and his wife Gloria Giroux of Winthrop, Leo Potvin and wife Sandy of Lewiston and Arthur Potvin and wife Tina of Auburn; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bertrand Morin of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Lachance; and three brothers, Roland, Leo and Laurier.
