FARMINGTON – Beryl R. Smith, 87, of Farmington, died early Wednesday morning, May 5, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 28, 1917, in Temple, the youngest of four children of Oscar L. and Abbie (Duby) Ranger. She received her education in local schools, graduating in 1935 from Farmington High School.

On Oct. 31, 1937, in Gardiner, she married Glendon M. Smith of Industry.

In addition to being a homemaker, she also worked with her husband in their family-owned pharmacy on the Main St. of Wilton for a number of years. Together they enjoyed raising their three sons and spending family time bird hunting and fishing.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Farmington. Her artistic talent could be seen in her needlework, crocheting, knitting and painting. She earned several blue ribbons for her creations at

Farmington Fair. She also was a fan of NASCAR and the Boston Red Sox.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Glendon of Farmington; three sons, Ronald W. Smith and his wife, Sally of Belgrade Lakes, Richard R. Smith and Alden D. Smith and his wife, Diane all of Farmington;

four grandchildren, Randy and his wife, Patti, Steve, Hillary and Jessie Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Danielle Smith and Riley Paige Smith.

She was predeceased by brothers, Arthur, Roland, Lewis and Herbert.
