SCARBOROUGH – Hannaford Supermarkets and Freihofer’s Baking Co. announce the expansion of the YMCA Summer Camp Fund. The program, which began two years ago in Maine, has been expanded to New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.

The fund was created to provide kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in a summer day camp program. Since its inception, more than 300 kids have shared the day camp experience.

Program funding comes from the sale of Freihofer’s split top white or wheat bread. When a customer purchases a loaf of the bread in any Hannaford store, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the fund. It is expected that the program will generate $60,000; enough money to send more than 300 children to local YMCA day camps throughout the four states this summer. The program will run from May 3 through July 3.
