LEWISTON – Althea S. Fletcher, 80, of Wilton, died Thursday morning, May 6, at the Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born May 12, 1923, in Wilton, a daughter of Perley and Olive (Batchelder) Ranger. She attended the one room school house on the McCrillis Corner Road and later Wilton Academy.
Mrs. Fletcher worked part-time at G.H. Bass in Wilton, but her true passion in life was being a loving wife and mother to her family. She enjoyed very much her work in the kitchen over the years baking and putting up vegetables, pickling, and jarring jams and jellies. As a younger woman she knitted, sewed, and crocheted various crafts that she lovingly gave to her family and friends as gifts.
She loved traveling with her husband, Cleon in their camper to all of the local fairs that they showed oxen and the annual trip to Lake Legere in Quebec with her family.
Mrs. Fletcher attended the Jay Baptist Church and was baptized there on March 15, 2001. She was a member of the Horse and Oxen Association of Maine and New England. She was also a former member of the Rebekahs Lodge in Wilton and Sunshine Society in Beans Corner.
She is survived by her husband, Cleon Fletcher, whom she married in 1981 at the Jay Baptist Church; a son, Clinton Robinson and his companion, Avis Pettengil of Wilton; a daughter, Judy Mosher and her companion, Bruce Dyke of Wilton; three stepsons, Cleon Fletcher Jr. and his wife Catherine of Dixfield, Gilbert Fletcher of Dixfield, and Larry Fletcher and his wife Angela of Poland; a stepdaughter, Linn Morin and her husband Phil of Lisbon Falls; grandchildren, Michele Nelson and her husband, Joe of Temple, Kristen Mosher and her companion, Michael Williams of Carmel, Warren Dyke and wife Monique of Turner, Ricky Robinson of Wilton, Jill Robinson of Farmington, Eugene Fletcher and his wife, Patricia of Dixfield, Daniel Fletcher and his wife, Deborah of Jefferson, Rebecca Fletcher of Farmington, Jocelyn Fletcher of Dixfield, Steven and Erica Dyar of Dixfield, Nicole and Garrett Fletcher of Poland, and Aarron Morin of Lisbon Falls; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Benjamin, Devon, and Megan.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Orman Robinson in 1973; a brother, Rodney Ranger; and a sister, Christine Richards.
