LEWISTON – Lewiston exploded for eight runs in the first inning and never looked back as the Blue Devils downed Mt. Blue 29-5 in KVAC softball action Friday afternoon.

Amanda Michaud drilled three safeties including a home run in the 17-hit attack while Kim Bechard added four and Ali Coleman chipped in with three singles in the lopsided win for the Blue Devils (7-4).

Katie Morin picked up the win, going three innings before giving way to Stephanie Lagasse in relief.

Brandi Rand took the loss, going the distance for the Cougars (0-9).

Winthrop 11, Monmouth 2

WINTHROP – Hannah Salois had two hits and two RBIs to lead Winthrop to a 11-2 victory over Monmouth on Friday.

Winthrop pitcher Nic Emery hit a triple and went the distance to earn her second win of the season. Lindsey Laflamme also had two hits and an RBI for the Ramblers (3-4). Candice Rioux scored a run for Monmouth (1-4).

EL 12, Mt. Ararat 0

AUBURN – Jen Verrill pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout and struck out four batters to lead Edward Little to a 12-0 win against Mt. Ararat.

The Red Eddies (4-7) had three players with three hits, including Aly Sasser, Nicole Wotherspoon and Lyndesy St. Hilaire. Jen Gamrat and Karina Konalczyk had the only two hits for the Eagles (2-9).

Jay 5, Madison 0

JAY – Jana Fettehoff hit a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning for the only runs Jay would need as the Tigers downed Madison 5-0 in MVC softball action Friday afternoon.

Kaylee Demillo chipped in with a pair of hits, including a triple in the win. Bree Loon notched her sixth win of the season, throwing a no-hitter and striking out 16 batters for the Tigers (6-1).

Sara Smith suffered the loss for the Bulldogs (7-2).

Oak Hill 7, Camden Hills 0

CAMDEN – Kristen Eaton doubled in the fourth inning to plate two runs as Oak Hill sailed to a 7-0 win over Camden Hills in KVAC softball action Friday.

Ashly Medeiros went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for the Raiders (7-2). Julie Lizotte fanned 11 batters and scattered six hits through seven innings to remain undefeated with six wins.

Claire Neville was perfect at the plate for the Windjammers (3-6) with a double and two singles in the loss.

Oxford Hills 15, Waterville 2

WATERVILLE – Randi Arsenault tossed a two-hitter as Oxford Hills pounded out 15 hits to take a 15-2 win over Waterville in KVAC softball action Friday.

Natasha Dubois had three hits for the Vikings (7-4), including a double and a triple, while Amber Millett chipped in with three singles. Arsenault recorded nine strikeouts through six innings of work.

The catcher Carol-Ann Gate had one of the two Panther hits, a triple, in the loss.
