WILTON – Shereen Ruth Nile Swett of Wilton, died Friday, May 7, at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 16, 1931, on the family farm in Farmington, a daughter of the late P. Edwin and Lillian (Hutchinson) Nile. She married Glendon C. Swett on Oct. 22, 1949 in West Farmington and they made their home in North Jay for many years before moving to the Temple Road in Wilton.

She was a member of the North Jay Methodist Church. While living in North Jay she stayed at home with her children and baby-sat for many children in the area. She worked at Franklin Memorial Hospital as a CNA in the Emergency Room.

She liked to go camping with her friends and grandchildren, go for Sunday drives and walking with her husband. She also loved to knit and she made many things, which she gave, freely to area organizations and to people that she knew. She made beautiful dolls that she gave to many people, and people called her the “Doll Lady.” She loved spending time with her family and her canine companion, Sammy.

In addition to her loving husband of 55 years she is survived by two sons, Scott and Celeste Swett of the Mainland, China and Timothy and Darcy Swett of North Jay; four daughters Glenda and Jack Webber of North Jay, Cathy and Bruce Espeaignnette of North Jay, Cheryl and Frank Osborne of Farmington and Jill and Tony Tibbetts of Chesterville; grandchildren, Shane and Christine Libby, Katie Swett, Matthew and Amy Espeaignnette, Thomas and Sarah Espeaignnette, Kristy Espeaignette, Lillian Osborne and fianc, Danny Bagley, Frank Osborne, Joshua Swett, Ashley Tibbetts, Michael Swett and Mikayla Swett; four great-grandchildren, Brittany Libby, Degan Libby, Noah Watson, and T.J. Espeaignnette; three stepgrandchildren, Ellen Webber, Ryan Webber, and Jonathan Tibbetts; two foster children Elizabeth Banuloes and Thomas Wilson; one sister and husband, Irene and Doug Fletcher of Wilton; one brother and wife, Clyde and Ann Nile of West Farmington and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law and brothers, Lee M. Nile, Pat Nile, Paul Nile and Phillip Nile.
