DIXFIELD – The Adult Reading Group at the Ludden Memorial Library met May 4 for the monthly discussion of reading materials. Those present for the session were Mandy Parsons, Pat McBride, Missy Timberlake, Felicia Pietila and coordinator, Diane Stanley.

The group met in the new reading corner, which has recently been supplied with a couch and chairs from Irving’s Forest Product. The surroundings are casual and make for a relaxed and friendly environment. Tea and coffee were supplied.

There were many books read and discussed. Robin Cook’s book, “Toxin,” was discussed as being enlightening. Also mentioned as a good read is his new book, “Seizure.”

James Patterson’ book, “Third Degree,” has been popular and has a waiting list. Rita Mae Brown’s book, “Whisker of Evil,” was given a good review. “Only Dad” by Titchmarsh was described as a breath of fresh air, full of light, British humor.

“The Sinner” by Tess Gerritsen was discussed and enjoyed by those who like the mystery/suspense genre. “My Sister’s Keeper” by Picoult was described as intriguing, and well written. The background takes place in Rhode Island. The author lives in New Hampshire.

“Open House” by Elizabeth Berg was reviewed. It is one of Oprah’s selections. “True Devotion” by Dee Henderson is the first book in a series of four. The series is called “Uncommon Heroes.” It is in the suspense/romance genre and it’s background takes place involving the Navy Seals.

Other books brought up for discussion were “Dance with Me,” “Young Wives,” “The Book of Ruth” and “The Runaway Jury.”

The next meeting of the Adult Reading Group will be Tuesday, June 1. The group meets the first Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon. Tea and coffee is served. The group is open to the public, and one does not have to be a library member to participate.
