The new rules will “serve as a template” for the more rules in other areas of town.
LISBON – Selectmen have enacted new parking lot regulations for the municipal parking lot on the east side of Main Street in Lisbon Falls.
The process for setting the regulations began last fall, and they are expected to go into effect within a month or so, when new signs are installed, said Town Manager Curtis Lunt, after which enforcement will begin.
Once in effect, there will be a limit of two consecutive hours for general parking. Two assigned-number parking spaces will be allocated for each business owner/employee that will permit parking on an all-day basis.
Additional permits for owners/employees may be issued for all-day parking in an assigned location at a cost of $25 per month; $120 for six months; or $240 yearly.
Not more than six overnight parking permits will be available to individuals who reside in homes or residential units located in the area adjacent to the parking lot.
Each overnight permit-holder will be responsible for snow removal in the immediate area surrounding their parking space.
A condition of the permit will be that the individual to whom the permit is assigned must live in a residential unit adjacent to the parking area. The permit will become void if they move.
Permits for 24-hour parking for individuals residing in the immediate area will be available at a cost of $25 monthly; $120 for 6 months; and $240 early.
Enacting parking regulations on the east side of the street first, will “serve as a template” for the eventual implementation of parking regulations in other areas of town, Lunt said.
In other action, selectmen also authorized contracting with Central Maine Rebuilders for the installation of the Pinewoods Road pump station at a cost not to exceed $24,074; approved permanent bonding for the new elementary school construction project at 4.4 percent interest; and granted an itinerant vendor permit to Northeast Ice Cream, liquor license renewal to Good Time Lanes and 13 mobile home park license renewals.
