VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – Pamela Anderson would seem to have it all: fame, fortune and fabulous good looks.

But there’s something else she wants: United States citizenship.

Anderson, who was born in British Columbia, planned to undergo an interview to become a U.S. citizen Wednesday in Los Angeles, said her attorney, Barbara Federman.

“If she passes, she gets sworn in,” Federman said Tuesday.

The lawyer wouldn’t say why Anderson, who moved to California in 1989, wants to make the change. The 36-year-old actress wouldn’t be required to renounce her Canadian citizenship.

Anderson, currently a columnist for Jane and Canadian Elle magazines, starred on “Baywatch” and has since appeared in various films and TV shows, including the animated television series “Stripperella.”

She has two sons with her ex-husband, former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee.

NEW YORK (AP) – A beleaguered Brooklyn neighborhood could get a makeover courtesy of Martha Stewart if a New York congresswoman gets her way.

Rep. Nydia Velazquez, a Democrat, asked the judge who presided over Stewart’s trial to sentence the domestic doyenne to community service at a training center for low-income women in the impoverished Bushwick section of Brooklyn.

“I simply believe that Ms. Stewart’s value should not be squandered as she repays the court and the American people for her crimes,” Velazquez said in statement Tuesday.

“As an entrepreneur who built a company from the bottom up, and created a label that is known the world over, Ms. Stewart’s skills could be put to good use” at the Maura Clarke-Ita Ford Center, Velazquez said.

The women at the center, in turn, could give Stewart “a much-needed lesson on responsibility (and) business values,” Velazquez said.

A hearing is set for next month before U.S. District Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum, where Stewart could be sentenced to more than a year in prison for lying about a stock sale.

Stewart was convicted March 5 for lying about why she sold 3,928 shares of ImClone Systems in 2001.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – California’s college graduates are getting a bonus on their diplomas this year: the autograph of a Hollywood superstar.

Now that Arnold Schwarzenegger is governor, his name appears on every degree awarded by the state’s two largest university systems. That has excited some graduates who are fans of the governor but dismayed others who aren’t fond of his movies or politics.

“It kind of makes the diploma seem like a bit of a joke that an action hero has signed and validated it,” said Bridget O’Brien, who graduated in December from the University of California, Los Angeles. “I got a B.A. in geography, but I think my diploma is B.S.”

O’Brien, who opposed the recall election that propelled Schwarzenegger to the governor’s seat, was among the first batch of students to receive diplomas with the actor’s signature. The others will be given out after the more traditional graduation ceremonies this month.

Devin Theobald, who graduates this week from Humboldt State University, said the signature has symbolic value to him because Schwarzenegger rose from roots as an Austrian immigrant to become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars and California’s governor.

“He is a man living the American dream, giving all hope for success,” said Theobald, a member of the Republican club on campus.

The “Terminator” star’s signature will appear on the diplomas of the 125,000 students who graduate each year from the nine-campus University of California system and the 23-campus California State University system.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Diane Lane has settled a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against a production company, both her agent and the company chairman said.

The 39-year-old actress sued Intermedia in Los Angeles Superior Court in July 2003, alleging the company had agreed to pay her $3.5 million to star in “Me Again” in a so-called “pay or play” agreement. Such a deal specifies that the actor or actress gets paid whether the movie is made or not.

The lawsuit alleged Intermedia negotiated a buyout with Lane’s would-be co-star, Bruce Willis, when its funding ran out, but never paid Lane the remaining $2.7 million she was owed.

Terms of the settlement, filed May 4, weren’t disclosed.

“We’re glad to be back in business with Intermedia,” Brian Swardstrom, Lane’s agent at Endeavor Talent Agency, said Tuesday.

Jon Gumpert, Intermedia’s vice chairman, said the company was “thrilled to settle this misunderstanding amicably.”

Lane was nominated in 2003 for a best-actress Oscar for her role in “Unfaithful.” Her other films include “The Outsiders” and “Under the Tuscan Sun.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) – It’s another boy for Tracey Gold.

The 35-year-old actress, who played Carol Anne Seaver on the ABC sitcom “Growing Pains,” gave birth to Aiden Michael Marshall on Saturday at Tarzana Hospital, according to a statement from her publicist.

Gold and her husband, Roby Marshall, have two other sons, 7-year-old Sage and 5-year-old Bailey, said Karynne Tencer of Tencer & Associates.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) – Sweden’s former Foreign Minister, Anna Lindh, was posthumously voted “European of the Year in Sweden.”

According to the European Movement in Sweden, which selected Lindh, the slain politician was cited for her “strong engagement and participation in the work that has led to the enlargement of the European Union.”

The European Movement in Sweden is a branch of the European Movement, an organization aimed at uniting countries from eastern and western Europe within the newly expanded 25-member European Union.

The announcement was made over the weekend.

Lindh was stabbed while she shopped unguarded in a Stockholm department store Sept. 10. She died the next day.

The attack happened just four days before a divisive referendum on the euro, in which Lindh was a leading pro-euro campaigner. The referendum did not pass.

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) – Andy Warhol is coming to Brattleboro.

“Andy Warhol: Intimate & Unseen” will open Sept. 18 at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center. The exhibit will feature works collected by Paramount Pictures executive Jon Gould, who was Warhol’s companion during the early 1980s.

“What’s unique about this exhibit is it’s work that’s less known than his ‘60s work. Andy Warhol constantly reinvented himself, and his artistic output is absolutely huge,” said exhibit curator Mara Williams.

The exhibit will feature classic Warhol images such as the Campbell’s soup can and black-and-white photos Warhol took that document his life with Gould.

“Andy gravitated toward people that were beautiful, not only in a physical but in a spiritual way,” said Jay Gould, Jon Gould’s twin brother. “I hope people (who see the exhibit) get the feeling from the show that this person was a friend of Andy’s.”

When Jon Gould died of AIDS in 1986, the items in the collection went into storage. A handful were shown in an exhibit in Boston.

Warhol died in 1987 at age 58 following complications from gall bladder surgery.

PHOENIX (AP) – The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum plans to open a satellite museum early next year in downtown Phoenix.

The “on tour” museum will be housed in a two-level building near America West Arena and will remain for at least five years, becoming permanent if it’s well received.

Featuring traveling displays, rare items connected to artists and interactive educational exhibits, it could draw more than 100,000 visitors a year, organizers said Monday.

“It becomes one more little anchor to come downtown,” said Dale Jensen, a businessman from Paradise Valley who has been on the Cleveland-based Hall of Fame’s board for more than a year.

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) – Stars in the Chinese-language pop music world picked up trophies at the 15th annual Golden Melody Awards, with Jay Chou of Taiwan winning the best album award for “Yeh Hui-mei.”

No single performer dominated Saturday’s ceremony, a major Chinese music event that also draws talent from Singapore and Malaysia.

Hong Kong diva Faye Wong won the prize for best female artist.

The best male artist award went to Taiwan’s Sky Wu, who hasn’t won a Golden Melody award since he was named the best newcomer in 1990.

“In the past 15 years, I’ve been nominated seven times and I finally got you,” Wu said as he admired his trophy for his work on “Pianist of Love.”

Taiwan’s May Day was named best rock band. The group’s singer, Ah-Hsin, yelled “Long live rock and roll!” as the band members collected their prize for “Time Machine.”

The award for the best vocal group went to Taiwan’s Ah-Pao and Brandy for “Ah-Pao and Brandy,” and the best new artist was Singapore’s J.J. Lin for his album “The Musician.”
