BUCKFIELD – A yard and rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Buckfield Community Church. Proceeds will benefit the Women’s Mission Projects.

Silent auction set

FRYEBURG – The 10th annual 4-H Take a Chance Silent Auction will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Forestry Building at the fairgrounds. Viewing of items will begin at 5 p.m. A 50/50 raffle will benefit the Fryeburg Girls AAU Basketball for ages 12 and under. Auction proceeds benefit the Saco Valley 4-H Beef, Dairy and Sheep Club of Fryeburg. For more information or to make a donation, call 935-2248.

Honoring troops

NORWAY – Saturday, May 15, is Armed Forces Day. Mariel Geiger of WOXO Radio is working to put together a celebration for those who serve at noon Friday, May 14, at the Beal’s Hotel Parking Lot. The legion will be putting out flags on both days, extra decorations and messages of support at local businesses are also encouraged. It is with hope that tapes and pictures can be sent to the 133rd Engineer Battalion, and others with local ties.

Plant and cookie sale

NORWAY – The Christ Episcopal Church will hold its annual plant and cookie sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 15, at the church on Paris Street. Divisions from church members’ gardens are hardy for Maine’s climate and have flourished in donors’ yards. Some of the gardeners who are donating plants may be present to answer questions. Organizers expect some 50 different types of plants. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the work of the church.

Playground benefit

WATERFORD – There will be a talent show featuring students from Waterford Memorial and Oxford Hills Middle schools at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Waterford Memorial School. Tickets are $3 for adults; $1 for children age 12 and under, and may be purchased at the door. Proceeds will benefit much needed playground improvements. Sponsored by the Waterford Recreation and Enrichment Club.

Drop-in hours scheduled

PARIS – The Maine Center for Women, Work and Community is offering drop-in hours from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, at the new Western Maine College on Main Street. Services include information and referral to other resources, assistance with career development, job search, and planning for self-efficiency. Services are free. PTA to host sale

OTISFIELD – The Otisfield Parent Teacher Association is looking for donations for its annual Memorial Weekend Yard Sale. If anyone has items to donate, they may be dropped off from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, May 25 and 27, and from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, at the Otisfield Community Hall. Other arrangements can be made by calling Ellen at 539-4397 or Sue at 539-4127. The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 29, and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 30, at the hall, rain or shine. Everything must go.
