PARIS – The Oxford Hills Rotary Club will hold its sixth annual May Day, Play Day Saturday, May 15, to celebrate the children of Oxford Hills. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

It’s free. Included will be games, demonstrations, music, dance, safety exhibits, rides and animals. There will also be a book swap. Children who bring five books can swap five and get a additional brand new book of their choice.

Food will be available from the Rotary food trailer.

To receive a free bicycle helmet, bring a bicycle and try the bicycle skills course to test skills. A bike will be given away to one of the children who register for and complete the bike skills and safety rodeo.

Sunday speaker

PARIS – Merry Shore will be the speaker on Sunday, May 16, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St. Her sermon topic at the 10 a.m. service will be “The Better Part,” during which she will explore the spiritual and temporal lives of Mary and Martha.

The organ voluntaries will begin at 9:50 a.m., and the music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist. Sunday school will be in session and child care will be provided. Choir rehearsal will begin at 11:15 a.m. The Coffee Hour will follow the service in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.
