AUBURN – Mary F. Lach, 89, of 1072 Lakeshore Drive, Auburn, died Friday, May 14, at the Clover Manor Nursing Home, following a four month illness.

Born in Lewiston on April 25, 1915, she was the daughter of Polish immigrants Joseph and Katherine (Tupaj) Lach. She lived in the family home on the corner of Hackett Street and Cumberland Avenue in Lewiston for most of her life, and spent the last nine years living with her beloved sister and brother-in-law in Auburn.

Educated in Lewiston Schools, she was a graduate of Bliss College. She was employed by Seltzer and Rydholm as an office manager and secretary and greatly enjoyed working for Mr. Rydholm, and later Mrs. Rydholm, retiring after 42 years.

A member of St. Patrick’s Parish and the Polish American Women’s Club, she loved to read and loved flowers: enjoying those she grew herself in her younger years and those of others on her long walks around her neighborhood. Her last years were spent happily in North Auburn, reading in her favorite rocking chair and watching the birds and the antics of the squirrels stealing food from the birdfeeders outside the window.

She leaves her sister, Elaine and husband, A. Freeman Berry of Auburn; several cousins and the extended Berry family that she has been a special part of for many years. She will be greatly missed.
