Several events are planned locally around National EMS Week, to honor emergency medical services heroes among the greater Franklin County area providers.

The American College of Emergency Physicians designates a special week each year to bring together local communities and medical personnel.

National EMS Week will feature grassroots activities coast-to-coast planned around the theme, “EMS: There When You Need Us.”

Franklin Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services include five area ambulances: LifeStar Ambulance, Community Emergency Services, Rangeley Ambulance, Sugarloaf Ambulance, and AMPS.

Upcoming events include:

• Open House at AMPS from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 20. AMPS will also be doing blood pressure screenings at the Shadagee Apartments at noon on Wednesday, May 19.
