BUCKFIELD – Buckfield Junior/Senior High School held Respect Day, a first, on April 16 when a special guest and live performance were organized by music director Michael M. Prescott.
Chief Meteorologist Russ Murley of WMTW Channel 8 sat in with members of the music department to perform two compositions by the English progressive rock band, Porcupine Tree.
The ensemble consisted of students Lee Lawrence on vocals, Tyler Newton on bass, Krissy Barker on keyboards, Paul Hersom on guitar and Justin Hendericks as sound engineer.
In addition to the student performers, Murley played percussion, and Michael Prescott played guitar. In a statement related to the music that was performed, Prescott said, “I feel that exposure to new music plays a fundamental roll in a well rounded music education, and the difficulty of these songs adds to student experience.”
