RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, in the municipal building conference room. Prof. Edward Ives of Bucksport, author and folklorist, will be the speaker.

Ives has received awards for his books on the folksongs of Larry Gorman, Joe Scott and George Magoon. Election of officers will also be held. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.

Seniors trip

DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet on Wednesday, May 19, at the Legion Hall. The meeting will start at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck dinner. Nickel bingo will be played.

Membership in the Neighborly Seniors is open to anyone age 50 and over. Dues are $5 a year. For more information, call Connie at 364-4189.

The Neighborly Senior Citizens will sponsor a trip to Foxwoods-Mohegan Sun on Sept. 8 and 9. A $25 deposit will be due by July 1, with the balance due by Aug. 1. The price will include overnight at Great Cedar and package deals at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. For details, call Connie at 364-4189. Persons do not have to be a member to go on the trip. Pick-up will be in Mexico and Dixfield and other points along the route.

Class lunch

RUMFORD – The women of the Stephens High School class of 1949 will gather at the Penalty Box Sports Grill on Canal Street at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, for the monthly luncheon.
