One of our greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln, said, “You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.”

What a prophetic statement from someone who never had to endure the liberal climate in the Maine Legislature. Given the current composition, even our country’s 16th president would be gaveled down when attempting to take a conservative and principled stand.

On June 8, voters in Senate District 15 will have an opportunity to help change this intolerable situation. We need to send Caldie Jackson to the general election in November and on to the state Senate.

I have known Caldie for over 35 years, and I cannot think of anyone who would work harder for the people in the Oxford Hills. He will work for tax relief, job growth, affordable health insurance and quality education.

He is also very concerned about opportunities for our youth and maintaining adequate essential services for our elderly and our veterans.
