NORWAY – Norway Memorial Library will offer an introduction to Microsoft Word computer tutorial from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at 258 Main St. During the tutorial, which is best suited for those with some computer experience, a general overview of the Word software will be provided. Historical society
NORWAY – The Norway Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at the Historical Society Building at the corner of Main and Whitman streets. The program will feature Al Soule, a Paris resident who has been instrumental in developing the local recycling system. He also initiated the addition to the Paris Public Library. He has also been with the Small Woodlot Owners Association for years, an experience he will discuss. Refreshments will follow. The public is welcome.

PARIS – The Maine Center for Women, Work and Community is offering drop-in hours from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, at the new Western Maine College on Main Street. Services include information and referral to other resources, assistance with career development, job search, and planning for self-efficiency. Services are free. NORWAY – The Norway Memorial Library will present a forum film titled “Unprecedented: The 2000 Elections” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at the library on Main Street.
Parish meeting
WEST SUMNER – The First Universalist Church will hold its annual parish meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, in the church vestry. The purpose of the meeting is to elect officers for the coming year and any other business.
Military tribute
OXFORD – A military tribute will be presented for all veterans and those serving in the armed forces at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 21, upstairs at the Oxford Grange Hall, Route 26. Members of the V.F.W., American Legion, their auxiliary members and spouses of troops serving are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served after the service.
Relay For Life
PARIS – The American Cancer Society of southern Oxford County will hold its Relay For Life Friday and Saturday, May 21 and 22, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School’s Don Gouin Athletic Complex. On Friday, two activities will be open to the public. A cancer survivor recognition will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 21. There is no cost; and a luminaria ceremony will be held at 10 p.m. For more information, call the ACS at 373-3704.
PTA to host sale
OTISFIELD – The Otisfield Parent Teacher Association is looking for donations for its annual Memorial Weekend Yard Sale. If anyone has items to donate, they may be dropped off from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, May 25 and 27, and from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, at the Otisfield Community Hall. Other arrangements can be made by calling Ellen at 539-4397 or Sue at 539-4127. The sale will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 29, and 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 30, at the hall, rain or shine. PARIS – Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School students will hold a yard sale of year-end items from their Valhalla school store from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the school next to the student drop-off loop. Students will be also be bringing in items to sell. Proceeds will benefit DECA activities.
