I was very pleased to read recently that Mr. Chris Branch stated at a meeting that the Lewiston roads are deplorable, and Pond Road was by far the worse. He is correct. Thank you, sir, for your honest opinion.

I certainly hope that the powers that be make note of his observations and take action.

I have another gripe and that is normal with me. In this case, it’s in regard to the decibel level for noise that is established by the city of Lewiston.

With motorcycles making their usual loud noises purposely, and the large construction trucks, which need repairs, now on the road, the decibel level is horrific at the corner of Pond Road and Webster Street, and we see no action by the city to stop this nonsense.

Motorcyclists work hard to make certain that they excel in the noise-making department, construction trucks make certain that they “jake” brake and defective mufflers add to the problem. Perhaps checking their inspection stickers would put a stop to most of these noise makers, meaning trucks and motorcycles.

Now I am certain this letter will excite lots at City Hall. Perhaps it should. Lewiston is a fine city and needs more control of violators of our state laws and city ordinances.
