Reed Johnson and Carlos Delgado each had two RBIs for the Blue Jays, and Adams escaped a ninth-inning jam.
Santana (2-1) lost for the first time since July, 23, 2003, against Kansas City. He had won 10 straight decisions.
The 25-year-old left-hander allowed five runs – four earned – in 5 1-3 innings.
Batista (2-3) won his second straight start after going 0-3 in his first eight with his new team. He allowed just two runs on two hits, walking five and striking out five in six innings.

CLEVELAND – Jon Garland pitched seven strong innings and the Chicago White Sox cooled off Cleveland with a 4-2 win over the Indians on Monday night.
Garland (3-2) allowed one run and five hits while snapping the Indians’ season-high winning streak at five games. Consistent all season, the right-hander has pitched into the seventh inning in seven of eight starts.
Paul Konerko hit a two-run single in a four-run fourth off Chicago’s Chad Durbin (3-4) as the White Sox won for just the fourth time in 11 games.
Garland was rarely in trouble while slowing down the Indians, who averaged eight runs per game during their streak. He walked one and struck out six.
Expos 3, Brewers 2
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Zach Day won for the first time in more than three weeks and the Montreal Expos brought their winning streak to Puerto Rico, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 Tuesday night for their fourth straight victory.

What the Expos had been missing was offense, but they got enough this time. Brad Wilkerson, Juan Rivera and Brian Schneider each hit an RBI single off Doug Davis (3-3) to help the Expos to their longest winning streak of the season.
Astros 9, Marlins 2

Trailing 4-3, the Mets got a life in the ninth when Mike Cameron opened with a walk against Cardinals closer Jason Isringhausen (2-1). Joe McEwing bunted Cameron to second, and pinch-hitter Karim Garcia also walked.
Eric Valent struck out, but Matsui shattered his bat in sending a soft pop fly into short right field that scored Cameron with the tying run.
Rockies 8, Reds 3
CINCINNATI – Jeromy Burnitz and Matt Holliday hit back-to-back homers in the second inning and again in the seventh, powering the Colorado Rockies to an 8-3 victory Tuesday night over the Cincinnati Reds.
The two solo homers by Burnitz gave him 12 overall and four in his four games at Great American Ball Park. The outfielder is 8-for-16 with seven RBIs in the park, which opened last season. Burnitz’s jaw dropped in amazement when Holliday followed his seventh-inning homer with another of his own, the finishing touch to an impressive game. Colorado piled up 14 hits – seven for extra bases – off Cory Lidle (2-4) and three relievers.
Phillies 8, Dodgers 7
PHILADELPHIA – Mike Lieberthal hit a tiebreaking homer and Pat Burrell connected twice, leading the Philadelphia Phillies to an 8-7 victory over the slumping Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night.
