LEWISTON – Alex Brochu fired a no-hitter, striking out 13, as Rowe Lewiston knocked off Falcon Shoe 13-3 in the Major Division of Elliot Little League.

Brochu also helped himself at the plate with a homer and triple. Cam Hart, Zach Parker, Brent Lacombe and Devin Deschenes were all repeat hitters.

Auburn Suburban

AUBURN – Potvin got its Senior Softball season off to a fine start with 3 straight victories. Potvin beat Auburn Firefighters 25-6 as Darcy Howard collected 3 hits. Winning hurler Katie Whittaker aided her cause with 2 hits, including an inside-the-park homer. Kendra Butcher clubbed a double and single for AFF. Robin Kennedy legged out a triple. . . Kim Ouellette was a repeat hitter as Potvin again turned back AFF 15-6. Ariane Bowie was the winning pitcher, with Katelyn Chamberlain, who banged a key hit, receiving a save. Kim Lawrence doubled and singled for AFF. Butcher also had a hit. . . In a close contest, Potvin edged Jim’s Auto 8-6 as Whittaker earned the mound win, with Chamberlain gaining a save. Chamberlain stole home twice and Whittaker had a clutch single. Beth Potter collected 2 singles and a double for Jim’s. Jamie Burns also doubled.

In the Major Softball Division, Rotary beat Coastal as Kayla Cummins walloped a homer. Elizabeth Packard and Claire Ross added offensive spark. Kayla Nadeau was the winning hurler.

Hardy-Wolf-Downing increased its Major Division record to 4-0 with a 3-1 victory over Pepsi. Winning pitcher Matt Gordon allowed just 3 hits while fanning 11. Manny Rosquette connected for a double, and Michael Guadagno banged his first hit. Jake and Lucas Farrago combined for 5 hits. . . In HWD’s previous game against East Auburn, Ryan Arnold blasted his first homer over the centerfield fence and into the pond. Justin Hodgkins legged out his initial triple. . . Against U.S. Glass, Sam Cullen pitched a masterful game in his first mound appearance this season.
