FARMINGTON – Scrapbook enthusiasts, look no further. The town of Farmington now has a scrapbook store located at the historic Chester Greenwood building on Front Street.

My Crop Paper Scissor Store held its grand opening in April and ever since, business has been booming. The two-floor store offers a wide array of tools for anyone interested in getting into scrapbooking or card-making. “We have a little bit of everything,” said store owner Joan Egdall.

Customers can browse the downstairs for anything from glue sticks to sparkles, while the second floor offers a more personal work space for anyone interested in the many classes and workshops.

Locally owned and run by Egdall and her family, the store is the first of its kind in town. “A lot of people are into scrapbooking around here,” said Egdall. So with the support of her family and three year’s experience in scrapbooking, she opened the store.

The store offers more than 1,000 different types of paper and many different stickers. “Some of the things we have add real embellishment of depth and texture,” said Egdall.

Students coming from the University of Maine at Farmington, as well as people from the Mount Blue school system, have been utilizing the store. Every Tuesday is student discount day, when local scholars can receive 15 percent off any of their purchases.

Egdall and her family hope that their new 4,000-square-foot store will attract both beginners and seasoned scrapbook lovers. Every first and third Friday of the month there will be free cropping sessions from 8 p.m. to midnight. The special workshops not only benefit local students, but also local mothers who have no time to pursue their interests in scrapbooking.

The store also is on the Internet at www.mycpsstore.com. Its business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
