PERU – Members of the Peru School Board came to Monday night’s meeting of the Board of Selectmen to discuss the proposed 2004-05 school budget.

Superintendent John Turner said that the overall budget is slightly lower than this year’s budget, but that reductions in state funding have resulted in an increase in money needed from the town.

According to the proposed budget, Peru’s share of 2004-05 school funding will be about $27,000 more than 2003-04.

The Board of Selectmen voted to recommend the budget as it was presented. Residents will have a chance to vote on the budget at a June 29 referendum.
