LEWISTON – David Labonte ripped a two-run double in the seventh inning to ignite a six-run rally and lift Lewiston to an 8-7 come-from-behind victory over Brunswick in KVAC baseball action.

Labonte went 3-for-4 for the Blue Devils (6-9) and played the role of spark plug for a slow-to-start Lewiston squad.

Tom Prunick led the Dragons (7-8) with three hits and one RBI, while Ben Giroux added two hits. Dustin Zubron held the mound when Lewiston erupted in the seventh and was credited with the loss.

Telstar 4, Mt. Abram 3

BETHEL – Josh Longway walked to first, reached second on an error, and came home on a wild pitch in the third inning to score what proved to be the winning run, lifting Telstar to a 4-3 victory over Mt. Abram Wednesday.

Billy Mitchell and Curt Wight each hit doubles for the Rebels (7-4).

The Roadrunners (7-6) were paced by Robbie Thorndike and Aaron Adams with two hits apiece.

St. Dom’s 13, Traip Academy 0

KITTERY – Jack Lavoie went 2-4 with two RBIs as St. Dom’s dominated Traip 13-0 in WMC baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

Mike Carpenter and Josh Dwinal each hit a single and recorded two RBIs apiece for the Saints (10-2). Jon Rutt chipped in with a triple and scored three runs for St. Dom’s.

Dirigo 6, Hall-Dale 5

DIXFIELD – Relief pitcher Gary Holman halted a five-run outburst by Hall-Dale to allow Dirigo to squeak out a 6-5 win in a tightly-contested MVC baseball matchup Wednesday.

Troy Houghton led the Cougars (4-9) with three hits, while Craig Langervin, Spencer Berry and Derek Vaughn tallied two each.

Sam Shain led the Bulldogs with a pair of hits. Rich Walter allowed three runs in the first three innings and was credited with the loss.

Winthrop 4, Livermore Falls 3

WINTHROP – Jason Allen walked in on a passed ball in the bottom of the eighth inning for the winning run as Winthrop escaped with a 4-3 win over Livermore Falls.

Allen singled and then stole second. After Tavis Hasenfus beat out an infield single, while Joey Burnham hit a line-drive single to left field to load the bases, setting up Allen’s run.

McCarthy struck out 11 batters and gave up one earned run for the Ramblers’ (5-7), while Chip Burnham smacked a two-run triple for the victory.

The Andies (7-6) were paced by Tyler Cote with a double and Tuck Drake with two hits.

Poland 10, Yarmouth 0

POLAND – Jerry Goss scattered two hits and received strong support at the plate as Poland demoralized Yarmouth 10-0 in a WMC baseball matchup Wednesday.

After the Knights (8-6) got off to a slow start, Andy Coleman’s single in the fifth sparked a four-run eruption. Max Levine and Alex Smith each tallied home runs, with Smith’s a grand slam in the sixth inning.

Ricky Serino allowed five runs the first five innings and took the loss.

Oak Hill 16, Mt. View 1

THORNDIKE – Kyle Lunn ended the day with four hits, including a double, and seven RBIs to spark Oak Hill to an easy 16-1 triumph over Mt. View in five innings Wednesday.

Jason Guerette smacked a double and had two hits in the contest, while Rick Leavitt struck out eight batters and gave up only one walk for the Raiders (13-1).

Lawrence 7, Oxford Hills 5

FAIRFIELD – Tim Lee hit an RBI double while Marshall Holmes tallied a double to lift Lawrence to a 7-5 win over Oxford Hills in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

Lawrence (8-7) posting a 4-0 lead by the third inning. but Oxford Hills battled back to tie it in the top of the sixth inning at 5-5, before Lawrence regained the lead and the eventual win in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Vikings (12-3) were paced by Corey Tielinen with a solo homer and Shawn Fanjoy’s RBI triple.

Monmouth 8, Jay 2

MONMOUTH – Scott Ogden and Josh McNaughton provided key RBI singles in a five-run fifth inning to pace Monmouth to a 8-2 win over Jay in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

Andy Bellmore chipped in for the Mustangs (9-5) with two hits and three RBIs. Mark Wade started things off on the right foot with a solo home run in the first inning.

Brian Gardner scattered three hits and walked just two while earning his fourth win of the season. Joel Ouellette led the Tigers’ offensive effort with a double. Jacob Turner made it five innings before getting pulled and took the loss.

Lacrosse

Fryeburg 8, St. Dom’s 7

AUBURN – A St. Dom’s rally in the fourth quarter came up one goal short as Fryeburg topped the Saints 8-7 Wednesday afternoon in boys lacrosse.

Kevin Laplante and Mike Ducette each scored two goals for the Saints.
