AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA and L/A Trails will present the second annual L/A Wellness Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6. It will feature a variety of health-oriented events for the whole family.

Participants will range from beginners to weekend warriors to elite athletes from all over New England. In planning the event it is the committee’s goal to involve more and more participants, businesses and organizations to help promote community awareness for healthier lifestyles and weekend fun.

Scheduled events are as follows:

Lake Auburn Bike Tour, 10 a.m., Saturday, June 5: It is for anyone who wants a leisurely ride around Lake Auburn. There will be two routes, 10-mile and 30-mile courses.

Lake Auburn Bicycle Race, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5: It is a competitive event with several categories racing throughout the morning around the 11-mile hilly loop.

Great Falls Criterium Bicycle Race, 8 a.m. Sunday, June 6.

3 K Fun Walk, 9 a.m. Sunday, June 6.

5 K Run, 10 a.m. Sunday, June 6.

EMS Kayak Exhibition, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, June 6.

Kid’s Bike Race, 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 6.

Twin City Boarders Skate Jam, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 6.

Twin City Boarders Exhibition, 2:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 6.

Interactive Climbing Wall, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 6.

All Sunday events will be held in the downtown Auburn area. The 3K Fun Walk and 5K Run will begin at the corner of Court and Turner streets. Both routes are flat courses that showcase Railroad Park in Lewiston and end along the new River Walk at Festival Plaza in Auburn. The Eastern Mountain Sports Canoe and Kayak exhibition and the climbing wall will be taking place at the Festival Plaza as well.

The Great Falls Criterium is a fast one-mile loop taking place in downtown Auburn. There are several categories with nine races throughout the day.

Twin City Boarders will sponsor a free ride demonstration on Sunday. Waivers must be signed to participate and helmets are required. Waivers are available at Twin City Boarders in Lewiston. There will be prizes and a raffle.

The Kid’s Bike Race, ages 5 to 10, will take place in front of the YMCA.

In addition, local organizations will display wellness information and provide health screenings. Food will be available to purchase as well.
